DJ UILSON - SELECTA FUNK 2 by djuilson
New DJ Nuts-Arthur Verocai Mix
the timeless concert series wasn’t just a series of stunning performances. all the shows were framed by our favorite djs. madlib, jrocc, houseshoes and quantic all came with amazing sets. cut chemist even raised the bar with a one turntable romp. on the eve of the verocai show, dj nuts was supposed to perform with madlib. he made the arduous journey from brasil after completing a show with marcelo d2. he endured a punishing series of flights that took 20 hours to complete, and in the end, a plane delay caused him to miss his own set at the start of the show. in a pinch, j.rocc stepped up to the plate and performed a stellar set at the luckman in his place, and nuts went on to dj a mind-blowing two hour set at the after-party. so much of mochilla’s dealings in brasil would not have been possible without rodrigo teixera (known to the world as dj nuts). the verocai concert surely would never have happened without him. his role in helping with the pre and post co-ordination was enormous.dj nuts is an astute and rigorous historian of brasil’s vast and varied musical culture. his record collection is legendary; his skills as a dj are world class. we commissioned him to make this mix to help people understand the extraordinary legacy of verocai. many by now know verocai’s self-titled album, some even know the more popular compositions and arrangements, but none have dug as hard as nuts. years of collecting and a strong friendship with verocai himself have made this historic mix possible. 78 minutes of all verocai compositions and arrangements is a dream come true. for such a mix to be made, only a true brasilian music aficionado could have created this, and we are honored to be able to share it with you.

Live Set di Anatolian Rock, Prog e Psych Turkish Funk, questo mix esce in collaborazione con Funk Ya Mama e Gold.

Africa
In 1998, yielding to the international pressure, the Sudanese government allowed good aid to be distributed to the south. British photojournalist Tom Stoddart travelled with Medicins Sans Frontieres (MSF) to a camp in Ajiep, where more than 100 people were dying every day. There he took the above photo of a crippled boy who had queued hours for food, only to find it robbed away from him by a fit man who strides confidently away.
Stoddart received overwhelming criticism for his image, people demanding why he did not intervene. He responded, “I am a photographer, not a policeman or an aid worker. All I can do is try to tell the truth as I see it with my camera.” However, Stoddart requested that the papers that print his Sudan photos run the credit card hotlines of aid agencies next to the photos. On the day the above photo appeared in theGuardian, MSF had 700 calls and £40,000 was pledged. The Daily Express raised £500,000. Le Figaro ran 10 pages of his pictures, Stern magazine nine pages.
On a deeper level, the photo is a symbol of Africa’s continuing problem — the big man with the stick rules. Large amount of food aid disappears from the camps in much needed areas and appears for sale in the market places in neighboring countries. Not to be anecdotal but I once volunteered in an African country that should remain nameless. Food and medical aid that Western governments sent there were regularly pilfered by corrupt bureaucrats and sometimes aid is withheld or rediverted to areas that don’t need them because the governments there like to use foreign aid as a bargaining chip to subdue/cleanse tribes and ethnicities they don’t like. Yet, Western governments and aid agencies continue sending aid because sometimes getting a little aid to affected areas is better than cutting off aid.
This succinctly describes the relationship between European/American (even Chinese + Russian) multi-national corporations, supranational organizations and the former bread-baskets of the continent of Africa within a neo-liberal framework.
This picture makes me sick. I always get a little angry when I see photojournalism like this, because the subject is so compelling, and heartbreaking. As a viewer, I feel uncomfortably complicit in this crippled Sudanese boy’s plight. As a viewer, I am challeneged to DO SOMETHING, because I live in a world where resources are distributed mostly to those who possess relative privilege and effective demand.
Folks complain about socialism’s disribution of wealth? Well, I counter with this- capitalism requires the movement of capital driven by demand- largely the demand of corporations, and the lesser consumer demand of the privileged. Resources from “underdeveloped” nations are being taken from the soil, from the water and from the air in order to fuel, supply the lifestyles of the relatively privileged in industrial and post-industrial nations such as the USA or UK.

Robert Walter has no problem getting into funky, down-home soul-jazz when he wants to, but the organist/keyboardist/pianist also has his intellectual side. He obviously appreciates the soul-jazz that B-3 icons like Jimmy Smith, Richard "Groove" Holmes, Johnny "Hammond" Smith, and Jack McDuff offered in the '60s, but he has also shown his appreciation of Medeski, Martin & Wood as well as the post-bop and fusion that Larry Young explored after he moved beyond soul-jazz. And both sides of Walter's artistry serve him well on Cure All. If Walter (who forms a trio with bassist James Singleton and drummer Johnny Vidacovich) set out to offer a healthy balance of intellect and funkiness, he achieves that goal on enjoyable tracks such as "Maple Plank," "Snakes and Spiders," "Measure Up," and "Coupe." Most of the material is more cerebral than a typical soul-jazz performance would be, but at the same time, Cure All is less cerebral than Medeski, Martin & Wood's albums. Whether he is on organ, acoustic piano, or electric keyboards, Walter usually avoids becoming either too simple or too abstract. Not that there is anything wrong with either simplicity or abstraction; the straightforward, groove-loving bluesiness of Big John Patton and Gene Harris is every bit as valid a part of jazz as the most challenging pieces that John Medeski has had to offer. But Walter obviously wanted to avoid going too far in either direction, and that outlook yields consistently worthwhile results on Cure All.

Stoned Soul Picnic is an instrumental Hammond organ combo who plays an exciting blend of Soul influenced grooves and big beats.
The band was formed in 1999 by 4 musicians who shared a mutual enthusiasm for the funky soul music of the late 60's and early 70's.
After their super heavy gig at the first Saint Paul Soul Jazz Festival (only Hammond Funk and Raw Soul) which leads the audience to choose them as “the revelation of the festival”, Stoned Soul Picnic goes further with this super heavy album which proves that they are highly skilled to groove hard.
Dynamite Hammond Funk, Fat Beats et Wah Guitar : here are the favorite ingredients of these 4 super Cooks from Nottingham which will help you to lose some weight enjoying their new recipes.

Dennis Coffey (born in Detroit, Michigan) is an American guitarist, notable as a prominent studio musician for many soul and R&B recordings. Coffey learned to play guitar when he was 13 in Ontonagon County in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. At 15 he played on his first record session backing Vic Gallon on "I'm Gone" on the Gondola label. In the early 1960s he joined The Royaltones who had had hits with "Poor Boy" in 1958 and "Flamingo Express" in 1961. The Royaltones played sessions with other artists including Del Shannon. As a member of the Funk Brothers studio band, Coffey played on dozens of recordings for Motown Records, and introduced the wah-wah guitar sound to Motown producer Norman Whitfield's recordings. He also played on Edwin Starr's "S.O.S. (Stop Her on Sight)”, The Isley Brothers' "It's Your Thing", and Freda Payne's "Band of Gold". In addition, Coffey scored the blaxploitation film Black Belt Jones. In 1971, Coffey recorded Scorpio which was a million selling single and in 1972 Taurus, both with The Detroit Guitar Band. Since then, he has recorded several solo albums, most of them for the Sussex and Westbound labels.
In the early 70’s, Dennis Coffey, Motown ‘Funk Brother’ and super-session guitar man, seemed determined to write soundtracks – even if he wasn’t commissioned by a Hollywood studio. Indeed, the four studio albums he cut for the Sussex label between 1971 and 1974, from which this compilation is culled, are like a big personal advertisement for potential film score work.
Coffey’s raw, compressed guitar style – his big city breakbeat funk - certainly evokes a tough, urban landscape inhabited by tough, urban gangsters.

About Mezzoforte
Mezzoforte was formed 1977 in Reykjavik Iceland by 4 teenage friends with a mutual interest in fusion and funk music. In 1983 the world wide hit, Garden Party, from their 4th album made Mezzoforte the first Icelandic band ever to achieve international recognition. 30 years, 11 albums and over a thousand concerts later, the band is still going strong with 3 of 4 original members (sometimes all 4) touring regularly with a 6-10 piece band.

Searching For A Bit Of Popularity is the collection of 11 all-new heartbeat-skipping, soul-bending, mind-altering elixirs for the brand-new you.
Low Fidelity Jet-Set Orchestra begin with a nu-jazz and cinematic core and dive aggressively into vintage sound of deep funk roots, bossa-nova excursions, and an overdose of Hammond stabs, licks, chops and grooves.
Those that obsess for KPM and Chappell; Mansfield and Hawkshaw; Morricone and Umilani shall take notice. Searching For A Bit Of Popularity is a breathtaking tribute to the elusive library underground and a hardcore excursion into ancient backlot b-movie cinema crashing head first into the moderne concrete jungles of sophisticated cool and Hollywood lust that Mancini and Schifrin paved.
Sound-wrangler Dave Masoch (Modulo5) turns the knobs and designs the breaks and beats. Paolo “Apollo” Negri (Link Quartet, Wicked Minds) modulates the rhythms and unleashes the mighty Hammond in all the right places.
Searching For A Bit Of Popularity follows Low Fidelity’s crazy-cool debut 45 “Bahia Soul” b/w “Jazz Rocker” [HB7-02]. 2 exclusives that set the foundation for this happening new project: cool vintage bossa sounds swirling with jazz, hard funk and Hammond grooves...tasty? Tasty!!!

From the tangled streets of New York comes Ray Lugo a.k.a. KOKOLO, a sexy musical cocktail for those in the know. As the world begins to take notice of the emerging 'Blended-Beat? movement surging throughout American cities, KOKOLO - named after a Spanish Harlem slang term used to describe devout aficionados of afro music- has the combination to unlock the door: a funky poet with instruments, playing for the right to fight and turn the norm on its ear.
Known as a live act to be reckoned with, KOKOLO takes the stage with an awesome force, bringing music back to the days of mavericks like Fela Kuti and Ruben Blades, when music addressed the unrest endemic to the common man. The music, always danceable, always grooving, has something to say.

trademark howling Hammond, James Taylor has a reputation as a solid and accomplished band leader. 'The Theme from Starsky and Hutch' cemented the band's reputation as masters of the Jazz/Funk/R&B workout. Formed in 1985, JTQ began playing music similar to the rare-groove Jazz-Funk then in vogue around London. By the early '90s, that movement had spawned Acid Jazz, and JTQ found itself at the forefront of a vibrant young club scene.

APHRODESIA'S NEW ALBUM IS HERE! 'PRECIOUS COMMODITY' FEATURES 11 BRAND NEW TRACKS It's been quite a ride for Aphrodesia since their birth in 2003: a pilgrimage to the legendary Shrine nightclub in Lagos, Nigeria in 2006, a cross-country voter-registration tour in a vegetable oil-powered bus in 2004 and accolades everywhere from National Public Radio to USA Today. Through it all the San Francisco-based 11-piece ensemble has won audiences over with an eclectic, unique sound- a blend of rich, female lead vocals and slamming horn-laden polyrhythmic funk that Global Rhythm Magazine called “a Pan-African mash-up.”
While the members of Aphrodesia are admirers of West African styles like afrobeat and Highlife- enough so that the group spent a month performing and living in Ghana in 2006, in the process journeying through Togo and Benin to Nigeria to perform at the Shrine with Femi Kuti- the group's sound has always included touches of funk, dub, Zimbabwean trance, hip-hop and global pop. The band's third studio album- “Lagos By Bus” released in November of 2007 and packed with songs written during and about their month in Africa- further solidified their diverse sound, with Global Rhythm Magazine calling it "their most patient and incisive effort to date." The new "Precious Commodity"- unquestionably the band's hardest-hitting and most diverse record yet, with the now-trademark thight rhythm section and dual lead vocals of Lara Maykovich and Maya Dorn augmented by squealing guitars and distorted thumb pianos (the latter perhaps a nod to Konono no. 1, whom Aphrodesia shared a bill with in 2008).

About Mdungu
Mdungu is a formation of nine international musicians based in The Netherlands. Their style is unique. Intense, raw and highly danceable. A fat horn section, a thriving rhythm section, lyric guitars and a pinch of vocals are the cornerstones of the Mdungu sound. Mdungu is influenced by the Griots of Mali, the Afrobeat of Nigeria and the Mbalax of Senegal. Mixed with funk, rock, jazz and samba, played with heart and soul: African music the Mdungu way.
AFRO WHAT!? is Mdungu's debut album released in May 2009. The album was very well received in the Benelux and has been released in the rest of Europe in the fall of 2009. The recordings are mixed by producer/guitarist Justin Adams, who is well known from his award winning work with Tinariwen, his own group the Justin Adams / Juldeh Camara Trio and Robert Plants Strange Sensation. The album is released by Zimbraz, a division of Music & Words.

Album Notes
Exploring the inner reaches of the human spirit, soul and mind, Mo’J simultaneously resists and embraces tradition with every note. Creating music they describe as ‘Beyond Category’, Mo’J constructs melodies rich with the influences of Soul, Funk, R&B, Rock, Jazz and Latin rhythms.
Mo’J began in 2002 as a dream shared by then long-time friends Monica Lynk and Jason Anderson. Raised in Lorain, Ohio, Monica’s roots were heavily grounded in the music she sang in church as well as the chart-toppers she heard on the radio. Jason’s beginnings were equally eclectic as he internalized the classic Rock & Soul of his parents' record collection, as well as the rich jazz scene of his hometown Portland, Oregon.
As destiny would have it, both were chosen as full tuition scholarship recipients to the Berklee College of Music in Boston. There at Berklee, surrounded by a deluge of cultural & musical diversity, Mo & J found each other. As their knowledge and love for music grew, so did their friendship. In the Fall of 2003, Jason and Monica were married, and in so doing, married their individual musical styles into a new music.
Adopting a phrase commonly used by the great Duke Ellington to describe the talents of those whose music surpassed preconceived styles and formulas, Mo’J chooses to call their music “Beyond Category”. Jason and Monica have this to say about their music, “Our music is about truth. We feel that music is a living entity; it has no boundaries to hold its expression, substance, or message. We try to address current personal, spiritual, social, and political issues and inspire our listeners to expand their minds, hearts, and souls.” Choosing to use live instruments and allow their music to change and evolve through the individuality of each musician, Mo’J has rejected many of today’s common practices of entirely sequencing and programming music.

Groove. What is it? As complex and diverse as mood; as infectious and innovative as melody and as inclusive and instinctive as rhythm itself, Groove is a term often lacking in todays MTV saturated and easily digestable pop consumerism. It is when an artist or band slips into a relaxed yet uniform swagger and things that usually wouldn't start fitting into place, it's what brings all pieces of the pie together perfectly and when everything seems so right you wish it would never end. It is also something that makes you want to shake your ass, whatever time of day it is and it is to these attributes that this compilation is dedicated.
Since the late eighties funk revival when hip hop artists truly started paying dues (and cheques!) to the masters of days gone by, funk has retained its rightful place at the forefront of modern music. Just listen to the production of the Neptunes or Timbaland to see where it fits into todays market. But it is not just within the memory banks of Akai's and million selling producers that the funk lives on?
This compilation focuses solely on modern day bands who are not just re-living but also re-defining the funk sound. Taking its title from the New Mastersounds storming opening track, the CD aims to show how these bands, whilst steeped in retro-ism, are pushing a new and exhilarating take on the blueprint laid down by seminal artists such as Eddie Bo, The Meters and of course James Brown.
Featuring tracks from artists from all corners of the globe, such as Sweden's Jaguar, Germany's Poets of Rhythm, New York's Dapkings, LA's Breakestra, The Bamboos from Australia and the UK's very own New Mastersounds and Quantic Soul Orchestra, it is also obvious to see that this is a worldwide phenomena we are talking about.' ...Empassioned and passionate, their music contains alluring promise. Fanga takes on an entire dimension on stage. Those who’ve had the chance of seeing the group live can only agree. Under the ongoing artistic direction of Serge Amiano, Fanga has recorded its third album in spring 2009 in Montpellier, entitled ‘Sira Ba’ (The Long Road).
Over the course of nine pieces, the collective Fanga offers a look at the past through the eyes of the present and the future. The Jamaican singer Winston McAnuff infuses a reggae accent in I Go On Without You, whereas the Togo All Stars orchestra shines out like a thousand fires on Dounya, one of the strongest and most jubilant of the album, resonating in the afro-funk echos of Moussa Doumbia and Amadou Ballake.
Alternating drawn-out lyrical climaxes, explosive brass passages, killer riffs and melodic ease, ‘Sira Ba’ displays a powerful force of conviction, reflecting an uncompromised musical complicity and an impressive flow of energy. Julien Raulet’s guitar work reacts perfectly with the keyboards of David Rekkab and the percussion of Eric Durand.
Martial Reverdy’s baritone reinforces the energy and persuasive power exuded by Fanga, along with the lyrics that take us straight back to the most glorious hour of the golden age of afrobeat, laced with the influences of that ‘great black music’. Once fallen under the spell of this strength of conviction, all that remains is to dance.

Release Notes:
After Metropolitan Jazz Affair, The Dynamics and Mr President, master of musical ubiquity Bruno "Patchworks" Hovart proudly presents Uptown Funk Empire, a burning tribute to one of his all time greatest loves: Funk.
Bruno ?Patchworks? Hovart, as a self-taught musician and typical teenager, started playling guitar, bass and keyboards at age 15, covering James Brown, Jimi Hendrix and Cream in his bedroom and, later in college bands. His first releases are in the mid 90s, with deep house and disco live bands and various electronic projects. He quickly evelops and shows very special skills for vintage disco/funk productions with a contemporary flavor.
This gifted boy's been working with artists such as Amp Fiddler, Archie Shepp, Mr Day, Paul Randolph... and for many recording labels such as I Still Music (usa), Favorite Recordings (france), Infracom (germany), Further Out (uk)...
Uptown Funk Empire is an exciting and ambitious project, worthy of its name. While the first album is simply called "The Empire Strikes back", it's no joke... Forget the whole revival thing, this sounds like an actual rebirth of the real funky stuff.
It's like being back to the better days of Funk without a travel machine... the vibe is vintage but the sound is fresh...That's not funky music, that's FUNKY MUSIC ! This album is huge and it covers all the golden age Groove styles : Boogaloo, Soul,
Disco, Boogie, Funk... but the music flows in the hands of a gifted modern producer. Bruno " Patchworks" Hovart plays bass, keyboards, computers... handling with love all composition, programming, arrangements, vocals...
With brilliant vocal featurings by silky Juan Rozoff, Brit-Soul legend Noel Mc Koy at his best, high-voltage divas Ange & Janice... and the funkysoul brother Bruno "Patchworks" Hovart himself on the mic... it's pure funkiness !
Beware, "The Empire Strikes Back" and is kicking... so get up & dance !
Uptown Funk Empire's music has been playlisted by radio stations such as: Radio Nova (France), Jazz Fm (UK), Nu Cool Show on Hed Kandi Radio (UK), Saturday Night Experience on Jazz FM with Mike Chadwick (UK), Craig Charles Funk & Soul show on

The drummer Tony Allen helped create the sounds of Afro-beat. With his solo recordings, however, Allen has refused to remain stagnant, incorporating dub and avant-garde hip-hop influences into his modern African dance music.
Raw and uncut, foursquare in the roots Afrobeat tradition, Secret Agent has all the ingredients that combine to make the style so special. Fat, full-throated, hard riffing horns, nagging tenor guitars, jazz- and funk-informed saxophone and trumpet solos, effervescent chicken-shack keyboards, lyrics rich in folk metaphors and proverbs—some of which confront state corruption and oppression, Kuti's most frequent targets, still alive and toxic in Nigeria today—call and response vocals, and, of course, energising everything around it, Allen's magnificent drumming.

Janko Nilovic is a pianist, poet and composer extraordinaire from Montenegro who has lived in France since 1960. He is one of those musicians who devote themselves to music fanatically. This resulted in a great number of published works, but most of them are on library labels not available for sale. His opus stretches from Classical, Jazz and Funk to Pop, Psyche and Easy Listening. He touches all these styles in a characteristic way.
Soul Impressions is his funky instrumentals masterpiece! Half tracks on album are groovy killers! Including Blaxploitation style trilla-drivers “Hippocampus” and “Crazy Enterprise”!

Album Notes
Mark Drummond is a Southern California-based guitarist and producer with a funky, soulful approach to smooth jazz and R&B. He spent years honing his style in Mid-South show bands before relocating to Southern California to pursue a career in broadcast radio.
The lure of performing too strong, he joined a country-influenced original R&B group called "Cowboy Soul", as a sideman on lead guitar. It was with this band that Drummond's Southern blues-rock roots were best heard, on several tracks he wrote and produced for the band's CDs.
During this time, Mark also hit his production stride, partnering with a successful Nigerian record company for a string of successful remixes that fused the energy of itinerant Nigerian performers with digital production techniques into genre-bending dance and AfroPop compositions. With lifelong songwriting partner Aljay Boyd, Drummond composed and produced the soundtrack to the film short "Bringing Up BayBay" for Soleil Films. Mark also contributed production skills and guitar to gospel jazz pianist Daniel A. Nelson's CD "Just A Touch". This collaboration yielded such a pleasing result that the two musicians teamed up for a smooth jazz CD, "2 Smoov 4 Words", released in early 2009.
After giving so much of himself to so many successful projects, the next natural next step is for Mark Drummond to offer his own musical vision on the CD "Six Strings One Love". With an eclectic track listing variously described as "R&B", "Funk", and "smooth jazz", SSOL is at once all and none of the above. It is an aural representation of one guitarist's influences, ranging from echoes of Wes montgomery's octave melodies drifting through the leadoff track, "Flow", to the all-out finger-licking funk of Leroy "Sugarfoot" Bonner's (of the Ohio Players) iconic "Fire" motif installed into the ridiculously funky "P.R.G.".Six Strings, One Love manages to touch on several subgenres of R&B, but everything is glued together by Drummond's guitar: tasteful, textured, and always rhythmically in the pocket.

The UK's premier funk band started out as a quartet gigging in small clubs in the Southeast of England in 1999, playing classic funk tunes by artists such as The Meters and The JB's. The band soon expanded, adding the now renowned horn section (The Rev Horns) and vocalists (The Speedettes) in 2001, which has enabled them to deliver the powerhouse deep funk sound they're known for today.
In 2000, the first single was released "Soul Safari" on Soul Fire Records and soon followed several other releases by other labels. Each of the limited run 45 singles sold out to a rapidly growing funk audience.
Three years later the band joined forces with Blow it Hard Records to record the first Speedometer LP. THIS IS SPEEDOMETER (VOL.I) which blended their love of heavy deep funk with Soul and fused this with Latin grooves that gave the eagerly awaiting funk fans and DJ's one of the best new authentic funk albums since the 1970's.
2005 saw the follow up album "THIS IS SPEEDOMETER (VOL. 2)".This second volume proved the bands credentials in delivering unrivalled heavyweight funk grooves and super-soul vocals from soul diva Ria Currie and the Speedettes. The funky re-work of Beyonce’s “Work it out” has been one of the most successful new funk 45’s to date and in the top 10 of most funk/soul DJ’s around the globe. The album also led them to Japan for a fantastic sellout tour playing 8 shows in Nagoya & Osaka. Check out 'Speedometer live in Japan' video on u tube. Just type Speedometer funk into the search box.
2006 saw Freestyle Records in the UK release “Diggin Deeper”. A compilation of all of Speedometer’s early 7" 45 releases in one place on CD for the very first time. It also saw them back in Big Noise Studios to start laying tracks for the next album "4 Flights Up" due out in early 2007 on Freestyle Records. Over the years, Speedometer has worked with many of the US funk legends including Sir Joe Quarterman, Eddie Bo, Marva Whitney, Sharon Jones, James Bell (The Highlighters), Lee Fields, Billy Wooten and most recently, gigging and cutting two tracks in the studio with Robert Moore. (To be released soon)All the artists were blown away by Speedometer's authenticity to the original soul-funk sound The 2007 album "Four Flights Up" is widely regarded as one of the best funk albums of the last 10years. The band will be releasing a live album in March 2009 and start recording their 5th studio album in summer 2009 for release end of the year. The heaviest funk is yet to come........

In 2002 , three friends joined to set a Hammond trio: Julian Maeso (hammond organ), Jose Garcia (guitar) and Antonio Pax (drums). Starting with covers from Lonnie Smith, Brian Auger, Georgie Fame, Lou Donaldson, The Meters.... the trio would find their own sound and new compositions. After two years burning clubs all around SPAIN, they decided to record 10 songs with a new member in the band, a young talented saxofonist and horns arranger called Martin Garcia. With a 5 piece horn section and new crazy percusionist David “el Indio” on board, they completed their fresh and deep first album “I ..M GOONA GROOVE YA”, that would be released by ACID JAZZ RECORDS (London) in May 2006. After this successful release they supported James Taylor Quartet, Sugarman 3 with Lee Fields, and Big Boss Man in their hot appearances in Madrid, and were invited to play in Gijón International Euro Ye-Ye Weekend, Purple Weekend and Soul Ascension in Berlin as well as important clubs in Europe.
