Lonnie Smith " Funk Reaction "

Organ player Lonnie Smith released this album in 1977 on the Lester Radio Corporation label, it was produced by Sonny Lester along with Lance Quinn and Brad Baker, thus giving it the typical sound of the label. Tenor solos by Eddie Daniels, guitar solos by Richie Hohenburger.

Blaxploitation Mixtape by Teddy Rosso

Tu não é malandro se nunca viu um filme do Blaxploitation - um dos mais importantes movimentos culturais feitos por e para os negros.

Surgida nos anos 70, a missão era simples: dar voz aos atores, diretores, produtores e escritores negros. Com isso, diversos pontos positivos e negativos surgiram. Acusados (Exploração de estereótipos) por alguns e defendido (única forma de representação e participação) por outros, até hoje não se sabe como resolver o dilema do movimento surgido em contraposição à Hollywood branca.

Reacionários, explosivos e cheios de clichês, os filmes traziam o negro hora representado como o marginal sem escrúpulos, hora representado como o herói salvador do povo.

Grandes nomes surgiram com esses filmes: Richard Pryor, Pam Grier, Fred “The Hammer” Williamson, Sidney Poitier, Harry Belafonte, Jim Brown, Bill Cosby, Richard Roundtree e James Earl Jones para citar apenas alguns que passaram pela Blaxploitation.

A grande explosão do movimento foi o filme “Sweet Sweetback’s Badaaaass Song”, de Melvin Van Peebles, homem que escreveu, dirigiu e atuou. O Filme mostrava que o mercado norte-americano estava preparado para as produções negras. Com um custo de apenas 500 mil dólares, o filme atingiu a marca de 10 milhões de dólares nas bilheterias.

A música era fundamental para o Blaxploitation, as trilhas traziam Quincy Jones, Curtis Mayfield, Isaac Hayes, Manu Dibango e James Brown.
