They are serviceable and sometimes catchy, but too often delivered without the snazzy touches or distinctive skills that make Quest and Gang Starr's material top-notch. But when words and music mesh, as on "Cantaloop" or "The Darkside," Us3 show how effectively hip-hop and jazz can blend.

Here is unquestionably the finest, and easily the most panoramic, Miles Davis retrospective ever assembled. For the first time, a two-disc set surveys the entirety of the continuously innovative trumpeter-bandleader's monumental recording career, drawing from the catalogues of all seven of the labels for which he did his most significant work.
Thus, the package begins in 1945, when a 19-year old Davis, who had arrived in New York two years earlier to study at the presitgious Juilliard School of Music, was on the bandstand with modern jazz fountainhead Charlie Parker, and concludes in 1986, with Davis, age 60 and an international superstar, performing with synthesizers and drum machines, his Harmon-muted horn still the very essence of lonely lyricism. The singular sound of Miles Davis . . . absolutely immortal.

Chaka KHan no Brasil
Após 18 anos de espera dos fãs, a cantora norte-americana Chaka Khan, volta pela segunda vez ao Brasil, para uma única apresentação na Via Funchal, no dia 06 de novembro.
Chaka Khan está em turnê com o seu mais recente CD "Funk This", lançado em setembro deste ano, que conta com a música "Angel" na lista dos "Top 10" da Billboard. Atualmente, Chaka Khan também participa do musical apresentado por Oprah Winfrey " A Cor Púrpura", na Broadway.
No show, além dos novos sucessos, a Diva da Black Music promete cantar os principais hits que marcaram sua carreira, como "I'm Every Woman, Through the Fire, I Feel For You e Love You For My Lifetime" - uma sequência de grandes sucessos que eternizaram sua voz e embalaram as pistas dos anos 80. Chaka Khan desembarca trazendo 9 músicos, entre eles, o guitarrista/compositor Tony Maiden - seu parceiro no Rufus.
Sobre Chaka KHan:
Chaka Khan fez sua primeira aparição em 1973 como integrante da banda Rufus – descoberta pelo produtor Bob Mônaco, que dizia ter encontrado a próxima Aretha Franklin. Em 1978, Chaka Khan lançava seu primeiro álbum como artista solo, mas foi somente em 1983 que a cantora se separou definitivamente do grupo.
Chamada de "Diva das Divas", Chaka Khan foi a primeira voz feminina entre os mestres da música Funk dos anos 70, estabelecendo um padrão a ser seguido, no qual atravessava com facilidade as fronteiras entre rhythm & blues, jazz, pop, fusion, e funk - tornando-se não apenas uma das principais vocalistas de nosso tempo, mas a cantora que pode legitimamente reivindicar o termo "a diva com assinatura própria".
Ganhadora de 8 Grammy Awards, Chaka Khan lançou 17 álbuns e teve mais de 15 singles nos principais "Top 10" americanos. Já trabalhou com artistas como David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Manhattan Transfer, Lenny White, Joe Henderson, Bobby McFerrin, Larry Graham, Dizzy Gillespie, Queen Latifah e Mary J. Blige (com a qual faz um dueto na música Disrespectful, em Funk This), entre tantos outros, contribuindo para a gravação de mais de 70 álbuns.
Chaka Khan criou uma fundação que assiste mulheres e crianças em risco. A "Chaka Khan Foundation" é direcionada à Educação e ao Autismo, ajudando mulheres e crianças a desenvolver o máximo do seu potencial, para isto Chaka Khan, em sua turnê pelo mundo, convida algumas mulheres e crianças de bairros pobres das cidades para assisir ao seu show. Aqui em São Paulo, este convite será feito para algumas mulheres e crianças da campanha "Dê Mais que Esmola, Dê Futuro", criada pela Secretaria Municipal de Assistência e Desenvolvimento Social.
